Our Story- Luke's Perspective

Our story begins in the last semester of Campbell’s junior year and my senior year at Baylor...

Baylor has a long-standing tradition called "All-University Sing," where every fraternity and sorority on campus performs a musical compilation of songs and dances. Each group performs on its own, but every four years, one sorority and one fraternity pair up to perform together. In 2023, our groups were paired. Little did I know, I’d be seeing Campbell every day for the next six weeks.

From the first day of practice, I immediately noticed Campbell’s beauty stand out among the 150 other girls in the room. She had the most radiant smile and such a magnetic personality. Campbell was the president of her sorority, so she spoke often during practice. I remember thinking, This girl seems really incredible, and I’d love to get to know her.

Over the next six weeks, we didn’t talk much, but I remember catching her eye a few times. Our big performance was coming up in mid-February after weeks of practice. Campbell and I officially met during the final week leading up to the show. I remember walking away from that conversation with her, saying to my roommate as we were heading back to our place, “Wow, Campbell seems really awesome.”

Our story really picked up during our group's last performance. Before each show, every member of the sorority and fraternity had to swipe in their Baylor IDs to get backstage. The girls’ dresses didn’t have pockets, and Campbell happened to ask me to hold her ID for her while we performed our final show (I was pretty excited, but I couldn’t show it). I saw this as the perfect opportunity to ask her out after the performance. That night, I told her I was going to return her ID, but I “accidentally” forgot to give it back to her. The next day, I called her and told her I still had her ID. She said she could come by anytime to pick it up, but I replied, “I have a better idea… If you let me take you out for a cup of coffee, I can give it to you then.” She seemed excited, and that Tuesday, we grabbed coffee and I got to know her better. I’ll never forget how eager Campbell was to truly get to know me, and how much fun I had on our first date. Five dates later, I asked her to be my girlfriend.

As time passed, I found myself falling more and more in love with Campbell, especially as I discovered her heart for Jesus. The depths of her kindness, humility, and love for people continued to surprise me. Nineteen months later, I found myself down on one knee, asking Campbell to be my wife.

We are so excited to start our lives together and cannot wait to celebrate with everyone on May 3rd!
